Lysakov Art Company Opens "CARNIVAL" : Works by  internationally acclaimed Russian artist, Victor Lysakov, September 14 through November 7

Pacific Grove, CA, August 31, 2007 - Lysakov Art Company is pleased to announce CARNIVAL, a new exhibition of original paintings on canvas, giclée prints on canvas, and original works on paper by internationally acclaimed artist, Victor Lysakov, many of which have never been seen in the USA.  The exhibition will open for public viewing during the September 14 ArtWalk from 6-9pm at 305 Forest Avenue in Pacific Grove, California, and will be available Tuesday - Saturday 10am-5pm through November 7, 2007.  The artist will be visiting from his home in Moscow, Russia, for the opening.

What is a Carnival? It could be a festival, fête, parade or pageant. An event of merrymaking, feasting or masquerading. Carnival has even been defined as an instance of riotous excess.

Lysakov found inspiration for the first painting in this motif, Carnival, while nodding off on a trolley. When he woke he recalled the images he had seen not as a dream, but as reality.  Spanish poet Antonio Machado once wrote, "The real carnival is not when you put on a mask, but when you take off your face."  Lysakov believes that our world has entered an era of carnivals: "There is no time to work or think; you simply cannot stop," he says. Life is more convenient, faster, and unburdened by depth "through the eyes of a mask."

Lysakov is celebrated for his unique style and unmistakable palette. Named one of "The Best European Artists" by Kunst Europe, he has participated in numerous international exhibitions. Lysakov's place in history is due in part to his involvement as one of the co-founders of Arbatr, the first and only independent painters' union in the former Soviet Union as well as his status as co writer, with Serge Arto in 1987, of the manifesto Acceptual Strobism, that continues to resonate today.
