Victor Lysakov's artwork has been published and sold for over twenty years in the European marketplace. After establishing a remarkable presence and solid reputation overseas, Lysakov is pleased to establish his own publishing company in the United States.

The artist himself, Victor Lysakov, is naturally the creative force behind the company. Please see his biography for his captivating story. Below are other key employees within the company:

President and CEO: Mr. Randall Swanson

I met Victor in the winter of 2003 In Moscow, Russia, where I was involved in a consulting project at a private college. I had met Victor’s son, Constantin, or Costia, through mutual friends earlier that year. During my first visit to Costia’s home I encountered a painting by Victor, called Pan. This was my introduction to Victor’s work and it affected me like no other work of art had before. The painting depicted a flute player emerging from a viridian ground so dark that it was almost black. The flute, rendered in red, hovered above the hands playing its shadow. The player’s eye peered from the darkness above. I was struck.

Pan

Costia had eight or nine of Victor’s paintings in his home and whenever I would visit they would speak to me; each one telling its own story. I asked him to sell Pan to me but he wouldn’t part with it. It was, and still is, his favorite painting. He did bring me some other paintings, which I loved, and I purchased two, igniting what would become a passion for collecting.

Finally I asked to meet Victor, so Costia scheduled a time for us all to get together. We spent the evening discussing food and philosophy. Soon after I was privileged to witness Victor paint at his dacha. He was working on what I consider to be one of his masterpieces, Hebraic Russia. When he works he becomes intense, deliberate. He was caught up in the work as I stood by, watching him produce what I would later learn was a two dimensional scene from Victor’s own theater of the absurd.

I collected his work fervently during my stay in Russia and continued to do so once I moved my family back to the United States. My enthusiasm for his work grew as my collection did: I began to see connections in his themes, what he calls motifs, and how complete the world is that he makes visible to the rest of us; a world which can only be seen through his eyes.

Hebraic Russia

The more I learn about Victor and his role as a rebel artist under the Soviet regime, the more I see how important he is in the history of art. His work speaks to so much of what makes us human; it unveils mysteries of the soul and describes a passion for freedom that extends beyond political doctrine.

Lysakov Art Company was created so that I could share my love of Victor’s work with others. No other art has moved me as his has. No other artist offers a glimpse into the world that Victor alone sees. I hope when you see his work you will be moved by it as I have. It rewards frequent viewings, emerging from darkness in much the same way as the flautist in Pan, the first piece that drew me in.
